LEARN NC: Grade 2 Media Center
The second
grade curriculum is based on the North Carolina Standard Course
of Study. The North Carolina Standard Course of Study is a
sequenced set of goals and competencies that describe what the
learner will be able to know and perform. The Standard Course of
Study is a flexible guide that is referred to when planning
instruction based on themes and concepts. Integration is an
approach to curriculum where in all subject matter areas are
connected to unifying life experiences. This helps students
develop meaningful learning experiences. Students are challenged
to think and reason using problem solving strategies and
thinking skills to build a framework that gives them the ability
to achieve the goals and competencies. Changes and adaptability
to the Standard Course of Study can be modified to meet the
needs of all students. Teachers and students are held
accountable for the Standard Course of Study goals and
competencies.
